Odds & Ends

There is nothing better than the love of a child that is for sure! Today, Hailey colored a picture for me that had Danny, me, and her in it, and a note that said "I love you Jessi." She is such a joy! Hailey has always been really affectionate, but lately she has been climbing into my lap and hugging me freely. It makes me feel so good! Also, there have been times when she chooses to cuddle with me instead of Danny. Awesome!!

Hailey has struggled with reading a bit which has been a bit of a worry for us. Her teacher says she is not struggling enough to qualify for extra help in the reading room at school, but she is not quite where she needs to be. We work with her a lot at home, but Danny & I decided to enroll her in a special reading program through the school district. She will go on Tuesdays & Thursdays for one hour for 6 weeks. I think it will be very good for her, and hopefully will help make reading more fun for her. We all know how very much I enjoy reading, and as much as I love reading books to her, I want her to know the feeling of being swept away in a book the way that I can be.

Have I mentioned that I have the best husband in the world? Danny had a really crummy day today at work so when we got home, I told him to just chill while I made dinner. After supper, I was getting ready to clean up everything, but needed to take the dog out first. By the time I got back inside, Danny had cleaned up everything and had heated up the heating pad since my back has been bothering me. He is such a rock star! And he's going to watch the Bachelor with me tonight too!

I am so glad tomorrow is Friday! We are just having a low key family weekend - I think that's the best kind. I do plan on getting an Ipod this weekend though, so that will be pretty exciting!
I wanted to post some of my favorite pics from our weekend home too....I know there are a lot, but I love them all.

  1. Awesome post Jess...great to hear from you again! Hailey is a sweetheart! We miss her and you and Danny as well... ;-) Love the pics too! I made a bunch of copies for you guys when I made our pics. Give hugs all around from me... Have a good night.

  2. Great pics...I'm so glad you started a blog. Hailey is such a sweetheart and I can tell she melts your heart. And Danny IS a rock up after dinner is not my favorite thing and the heating pad was such a sweet gesture. Enjoy your weekend. We don't have much going on either other than soccer, and soccer! It will be nice not to be running around especially with this crazy cold weather!

  3. Jess I can tell you love your family so much. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I would love to help out with Hailey's reading if you'd want/need it. She'll get there. Don't you worry. Parental support is one of the biggest things.

  4. so glad you have a blog now-and we can keep up with your family.I too hope Hailey gets that reading hunger-nothing better to pass the time with. I am sure she will catch up-enjoy herself-and succeed...she not only is a cutie-but smart too!

  5. Loved the picture of Riley and Hailey in the tub, but Uncle Joe and you together is my favorite photo (of course) I'm glad you had a fun trip home. It is EASY to love a child, but by going that extra mile to get Hailey the help she needs to be successful at what is important in life is what is going to make you a GREAT Mom. I am so happy to hear that you and Danny BOTH have the sharing and KIND relationship that spouses should have.
    LOVE to you all,
    Aunt Cindy

  6. Jess, Sarah needed help during second grade so you are smart to get it now, Sarah used to hate to read but now she reads constantly and spends any extra money on books, if you want any encouragement just e mail Sarah, she still has limitations at times but there is no doubt she will be sucessful in anything she does, loved the pictures and the one of Jeff and Deb is so good

Let me know why you love life today!
